The COVID-19 pandemic has led to several shared limitations affecting both medical and health education. Similar to numerous other health professional programs at many institutions, the Qatar University health cluster, QU Health, adopted a containment strategy during the first wave of the pandemic. This involved moving all instruction online and replacing on-site training with virtual internships. This research project explores the challenges of virtual internships during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically analyzing their impact on the professional identity (PI) of health cluster students enrolled at Qatar University's College of Medicine, College of Health Sciences, and College of Pharmacy.
Qualitative methods were employed for the research. The research included eight focus groups specifically designed for student participants.
Data collection involved 43 questionnaires and 14 semi-structured interviews, specifically with clinical instructors from every college within the health cluster. The inductive approach was used for the analysis of the provided transcripts.
Key obstacles encountered by students encompassed a deficiency in vital skills for navigating the VI, the pressures of professional and social environments, the very nature of the VIs, the learning experience quality, technical and environmental issues, and the formation of a student's professional identity during a non-traditional internship. Developing a professional identity was complicated by insufficient clinical experience, an absence of pandemic response experience, a lack of effective communication and feedback, and a deficiency in confidence in meeting the internship's objectives. A model was designed to embody the significance of these findings.
A better understanding of how challenges and diverse experiences affect the development of professional identities within health professions students is provided by these important findings, which identify the unavoidable obstacles to virtual learning. Henceforth, students, instructors, and policymakers should all work together to decrease these limitations. Given the vital role of hands-on clinical practice and patient contact in medical education, the current circumstances necessitate innovative applications of technology and simulation-based learning. More research is crucial to accurately assess the effects of VI on students' PI development, both immediately and over time.
By identifying the unavoidable obstacles to virtual learning faced by health professions students, these findings illuminate the impact of these challenges and differing experiences on the growth of their professional identity. Body function and activities of nearly all MHP users revealed consistent joint angle coordination patterns when utilizing an MHP, mirroring those employed with an SHP. The upward RCRT execution was less rapid in the MHP condition than in the SHP condition. The examination yielded no discernible differences in function. MHP user participation was linked with a reduced EQ-5D-5L utility score, coupled with increased experiences of pain or limitations, as measured according to the RAND-36. Tackling gender-based disparities in physical activity promotion is a critical public health endeavor. Sport England launched the 'This Girl Can' (TGC) campaign in 2015, which was later licensed to VicHealth in Australia in 2018 for a three-year mass media campaign. To suit the Australian conditions, the campaign was adapted through formative testing before its implementation in the state of Victoria. The initial population repercussions of the first TGC-Victoria wave were analyzed in this evaluation.
Serial population surveys were used to assess the campaign's impact on women in Victoria who fell short of the current physical activity guidelines. Open hepatectomy Surveys were conducted in October 2017 and March 2018 before the campaign, followed by a post-campaign survey immediately after the first TGC-Victoria mass media campaign in May 2018. The 818 low-activity women, followed over the three survey periods, were the subject of the majority of the analyses.
